When our hair is straightened smooth it stops us dancing in the rain, And with our lashes painted black we hold back tears and hide the pain, When we spend our precious minutes preening, we lose the time we had for reading, Waxing, shaving, plucking, painting, the task of modern beauty is never ending, Contouring, curling, straightening, extending, our habits formed by whatever's trending,
So let's shun the G-strings, burn the bras and reclaim our hairy bodies as ours, Let's reforest the bush and rewild our feet and remember how bloody good it is to eat (butter), May we remember the beauty in a natural face and choose our food based on how it tastes, May we help each other to get free, we are the women breaking free of captivity.
I shared this little poem as part of a blog called: Beware the Trappings of Domesticated Womanhood on my Patreon. Read it here for £3 or sign up for a 7 day free trial of any tier.
